The motion of singlet excited states in organic photovoltaics plays a large role in device performance because it must reach the organic-organic interface to form free charges.  The singlet excited state diffusion length is only in the tens of nanometers, much smaller than the desired size of a device.  The triplet excited state has a much farther diffusion length and can be used to avoid this problem.  Using quantum chemical techniques combined with kinetic Monte Carlo we investigate the motion of triplet excited states in organic photovoltaics and determine potential optimization routes.   Through modeling disordered systems we find that triplet diffusion is not greatly hindered in a thin film.   Finally we briefly discuss some results on the potential mechanism for triplet formation through singlet fission.
