Water-soluble conjugated polymers (WSCPs) with charged groups have attracted much attention for in aqueous solution. Especially, WSCPs have been attracted a great deal of attention because of their unique optoelectronic properties, which may serve as a basis for a new generation of optoelectronic devices and biochemical detection such as DNA, proteins, and biological agents.The detection of important biological thiols such as cysteine (cys) is highly relevant to a variety of fundamental physiological processes in organisms. Cysteine is one of the key components in all living things. Proteins are synthesized by formation of peptide bonds during ribosomal translation of messenger RNA. Cysteine plays a key role in stabilizing extracellular proteins.In this study, we investigated WSCPs sensor for detection of cysteine. We found that these polymers exhibited a visually noticeable fluorescence color change in the paper format system.
