There has been a demand to find alternatives resources to reduce the stress of the massive consumption of fossil fuel since the world is currently consuming petroleum at a rate 100,000 times faster than nature can replace it. The development of biomass refineries in the next few decades to produce energy and material that will replace fossil based resources since biomass is an abundant resource and the only sustainable carbon resource. Carbohydrates represents 75% of the annual renewable biomass, however, nature has supplied us this most abundant polymer in our environment is cellulose, which represents the most obvious renewable resources for producing biocomposites. Biodegradable plastics and biocompatible composites generated from renewable biomass feedstock are regarded as promising materials that could replace synthetic polymers and reduce global dependence on fossil fuel sources. Series of chiral bisoxazolines were synthesized from FDCA and naturally occurring amino acids in good yields. It was then evaluated in enantioselective reactions.
