We are exploring the electrochemical reduction of CO2 to energy-dense products such as CO and methanol using homogeneous transition metal complexes.  Toward this end, we are developing the synthesis of new ligands with pendant proton-relay groups for attachement to transition metals.  The synthetic efforts, along with characterization of the ligands and metal complexes and their reactivity with CO2 will be described.
