Nanoparticles of semiconductor material have been the subject of intense research in the past decade owing to the novel electronic, catalytic and optical properties. The use of single molecular precursors is becoming a common route for preparing high quality nanocystals. This route serves as alternative to avoid the inherent problems associated with toxic volatile compounds at elevated temperature. In this study, novel zinc and cadmium complexes derivatives of cyanodithioimidocarbonate-thiuram disulfide have been synthesized and characterized. All the complexes were decomposed in HDA to give HDA capped nanoparticles. Polymer nanocomposites of the MS were also produced in PPMA. Their optical and structural properties have been evaluated and the effect of temperature and concentration on the size of both the nanoparticles and nanocomposites were also determined.
