Synthesis of trinuclear Ni(II) complexes of salicyldimines leads to interesting magnetic interactions of an isosceles triangle modeled with two coupling interactions by the Hamiltonian H= -2J1,2[(S1?S2)+ (S2?S3)] -2J3,1(S3?S1). The overall strength of the antiferromagnetic interactions appears to be influenced by small structural changes in the imine and ring substituents. Interesting magnetostructural relationships of the �3-O bridging angles align the complexes along the boundary of ferro- and anti-ferromagnetic triangular nickel compounds. The structural versatility of the complexes allows for quick extension into the realm of single-molecule magnets (SMMs), and catalysis.
