The presentation summarizes our work in the area of synthesis and characterization of low-melting ionics with derivatized closo- and nido-carborane anions and alkyl-pyridinium and bis-alkyl-imidazolium cations. Differential Scanning Calorimetery data will be examined for the trends in phase transition thermodynamic characteristics. The comparative motifs of crystal packing are discussed whenever X-ray structures are available. The most recent structure was determined for per-chlorinated carborane anion with alkyl- pyridinium cation:
