In our laboratory, we have synthesized many thiosemicarbazone ligands and their metal complexes for the purpose of finding antiproliferative properties. This presentation is a comparison study of the properties of several different structural types of thiosemicarbazone ligands and their metal complexes, particularly those of Ga3+, In3+, Pd2+, and Cu2+. Data has been collected using four bacteria (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa), two yeast (Canida albicans and Sacchromyces cervisiae), and one mold (Aspergillus niger) for minimum inhibitory concentration testing. This comparison study shows that the ligands and their metal complexes exhibit a broad spectrum of antiproliferative effects that can be rationalized due to structural moieties in the different thiosemicarbazone compounds.
