The Southeastern Oklahoma State University's American Chemical Society Student Members Chapter is constantly involved with chemistry students and the surrounding community, with the goal of spreading the importance and joy of chemistry.  The officers and advisor arrange for graduate school and professional program recruiters to give presentations to students, and for students to tour graduate campuses and attend external science meetings.  The chapter hosted a speaker to promote National Chemistry Week, provided a booth on Halloween to promote chemistry by giving away chemistry souvenirs and spooky sweets, and supported local charitable efforts such as a canned food drive and raising funds for under-privileged middle-school students.  The chapter is using an ACS Undergraduate Programs Innovative Activities Grant to help motivate local minority and rural high school students to prepare for science majors, using the chemistry of plastics recycling as a chemical demonstration topic.  Other activities include chapter fundraisers and social activities.
