The Student Chapter at Western Washington University (WWU) has been in continual operation since its formation in 1969.  Our chapter strives to: build and maintain an engaging and inclusive chemistry community for students, faculty, and staff; serve as a resource for students in various stages of their educational experience; and provide opportunities for students to share their knowledge and love of chemistry with the community by offering meaningful educational and service opportunities.  Students, faculty, and staff interact in a more informal setting during social activities such as costume parties, friendly bowling competitions, intramural soccer and softball, and the annual chemistry department picnic.  Informational seminars, tours to local industries, lunches with invited speakers, conference travel, GRE study groups, Scholar's Day, and other events help students gain practical knowledge and experience in the chemical fields.  Members interact with the local community by presenting science demonstration shows, mentoring elementary school students, organizing food drives, giving tours of the department, and bringing students to campus to perform science experiments.  Sales of beaker mugs and student designed chemistry T-shirts provide the funding for these activities.  The activities organized by the Student Chapter at WWU have made a significant impact on the department, college, and surrounding community.
