The exact ground-state exchange-correlation functional of Kohn-Sham density functional theory yields the exact transmission through an Anderson junction at zero bias and temperature. In this work, we test different approximations, including smooth functionals of the occupation, symmetry-broken approaches, and those containing explicit or smoothed derivative-discontinuities with particle number. Their successes and limitations are analyzed.
