In recent years, boron-containing p-electron materials have attracted much interest due to their remarkable optoelectronic properties, which can be exploited in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).The unsymmetrically substituted 9,10-dihydro-9,10-diboraanthracene dimer (1   )2 is a versatile reagent to introduce a rigid, boron-doped moiety into conjugated p-electron systems. In this contribution, the synthesis of (1   )2   and of its highly luminescent hydroboration products (e.g., 2   ) will be described.
