The overall goal of this study is develop useful catalysts capable of preparing new nitrogen-containing compounds.  We are developing a strategy of utilizing electrons from ligands rather than relying on high-oxidation states of metal ions in order to make interesting complexes with terminal nitrogen ligands.  Our target reaction is environmentally benign involving addition of an appropriate nitrene reagent where N2 is the only by-product.  The results of our investigations will be presented.
