Recently, the serious environmental change and world's energy demand is facing variety of challenges. Biofuels derived from plants as the feedstock for production of renewable fuels to substitute fossil fuels in the future has aroused more attention. The deoxygenation of oils is one of the most promising approaches to produce transportation fuels. Unfortunately, the deoxygenation of oils usually needs harsh operating conditions (350-600 oC, 10-20 MPa). Therefore, to develop an efficient process for converting oils is a big challenge from the points of energy and strategy. In this work, we designed an efficient catalyst for hydrocraking of oils under the relative mild conditions. The ydrodeoxygenation of fatty acid ester to produce hydrocarbons was performed efficiently under mild conditions (200 oC, 3.0 MPa), and in which the fatty acid ester could be converted completely (100%) with a high selectivity towards hydrocarbons (>99%). The present work not only provides an efficient process for the deoxygenation of oil, but also opens a potential utilization for transformation of high oxygen content of biomass to transportation fuels.
