In the field of long-chain n-paraffins hydroconversion over bifunctional catalysts, the combination of different acidic solids seems to be a promising strategy for improving catalytic performances. It is assumed that diversity in terms of catalytic performances should favor the occurrence of synergetic effects between catalysts. The use of high-throughput experimentation (HTE) tools allows a wide screening of catalytic formulations, accelerating the discovery of mixtures of interest.  In this work, the hydroconversion of n-hexadecane in gas phase was carried out in a HTE unit (16 reactors). With an initial set of twenty acidic solids being chosen, the suitable Pt content was then determined for each solid in order to obtain well balanced bifunctional catalysts.  With the initial set of catalysts, the number of binary combinations is nevertheless considered to be too high.  A subset of nine catalysts was thus selected, with the adopted strategy being described in the present paper.  The chosen subset is the one with the greatest diversity in the space of seven measured catalytic properties.
