The aim of the research is to generate amphiphilic biocompatible polymers for drug delivery applications. Two gamma-substituted e-caprolactone monomers containing octyloxy and 2-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy functional groups have been synthesized and polymerized using tin(II) 2-ethylhexanoate catalyst. The amphiphilic block copolymer containing hydrophobic poly(?-octyloxy-e-caprolactone) and hydrophilic poly{?-2-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy-e-caprolactone} forms micelles in aqueous solution.  Poly{?-2-[2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy-e-caprolactone} homopolymer and its block copolymer with poly(?-octyloxy-e-caprolactone) both display thermoresponsive behavior with LCST of 47.5�C and 37.5�C, respectively.
