A porous titaniumsilicate with a new structure (UPRM-5) has been synthesized via microwave assisted heating and employing quaternary ammonium cations tetrapropylammonium (TPA+) and tetrabutylammonium (TBA+), respectively. Through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) it was found that a neat TPA-UPRM-5 and TBA-UPRM-5 crystalline powder phase could be prepared via microwave irradiation for 12 h and 20 h, respectively. Detemplation and further modification of both UPRM-5 variants were successfully achieved via ion exchange with NH4Cl and SrCl2, respectively, as corroborated by FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. Vacuum-assisted thermal activation of the strontium-variants revealed a surface area of ca.  200 m2/g, which is an order of magnitude larger than the ones reported in the literature for other flexible titanium silicates. In terms of pore contraction, it was found that each UPRM-5 variant showcases unique behaviors upon thermal treatment, including changes in both textural and adsorption properties. The materials also exhibited superior CO2 adsorption capacities when compared to other titanium silicates. In general, the results suggest that the incorporation of the aforementioned tetraalkylammonium cations to the synthesis of UPRM-5 plays a dominant role in the ultimate structural and textural properties of UPRM-5.
