The utilization of poly(2-oxazoline)s (POx) as biocompatible polymers for the fabrication of hydrogels for biomedical applications is highly promising, whereby the living cationic ring-opening polymerization provides a versatile synthetic platform. Within this project we will explore novel avenues for the preparation of POx hydrogels. The resulting hydrogel materials will be studied with regard to swelling ratio and mechanical properties, whereby systematical structural variations in the polymer chains will lead to the establishment of structure-property relationships.This poster will discuss the pros and cons of the different synthetic strategies towards the synthesis of POx hydrogels and will provide preliminary experimental data and results obtained within this project.
