Living oxazolinium species from the cationic ring opening polymerization of 2-oxazolines (Ox) were terminated with in situ formed methacrylate anions. The obtained well-defined macromonomers were polymerized using the RAFT technique resulting in comb polymers with varying degree of polymerization of 2-ethyl-2-oxazoline in the side chain as well as a comb polymer based on poly(2-cyclo-propyl-2-oxazoline). Increasing fraction of end groups of the comb polymers resulted in lowered Tg compared to linear POx. The  lower critical solution temperature behavior of the polymers in aqueous solution was investigated by turbidimetry revealing cloud point curves that are shifted to lower temperatures when compared to their linear analogs due to the macromolecular bottle brush structure.
