Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) provides world-class content and sophisticated tools designed to assist with exploration of complex chemical patent information.  CAS' databases are built by experienced chemists who follow stringent guidelines to ensure consistent quality as they analyze and organize the world's disclosed chemistry.  CAS' value-add includes structural indexing, Markush indexing, detailed concept indexing, and many other features that support comprehensive and precision searching of disclosed chemistry, using either text or chemical structure terms.  In contrast, free sources typically search uncontrolled free text which may lead to very large, imprecise answer sets, wasting the searcher's time and possibly missing relevant results.  STN provides patent professionals with access to CAS' databases and other high quality scientific and technical databases to ensure broad coverage of research topics from patent and non-patent literature.  This presentation will focus on how STN's sophisticated search capabilities and the breadth of CAS' content helps researchers more easily navigate complex chemical patent information and find reliable results.
