Supercritical water gasification(SCWG) of biomass driven by concentrated solar energy is a novel way for solar hydrogen production proposed by SKLMFPE. The reactor is the key unit for solar hydrogen production by SCWG of biomass. A novel SCW fluidized bed system for biomass gasification was built successfully in SKLMFPE. Although the SCW fluidized bed has a good preference for avoiding the reactor plugging which often takes place in the tubular reactor, some problems, such as instability composition of product gas, nonuniform fluidized bed temperature and particles overflowing from the reactor, existed because the design of SCW fluidized bed was based on the theory of classical fluidized bed. Therefore, studying on the hydrodynamics of SCW fluidized bed is essential for designing SCW fluidized bed. The aim of this paper is to summarize the research progress on hydrogen production characteristic and the hydrodynamics in SCW fluidized bed.
