The hydrogen production from water with biomass based on the use of HS- as a catalyst under hydrothermal conditions was proposed. Hydrogen production from water using HS- as a reducing reagent could be available under hydrothermal conditions. Ni3S2 was found to exhibit a catalytic role on the hydrogen production. The metal in the reactor wall also showed the effect on the hydrogen production. Thus, sustainable hydrogen production from biomass by recycling HS- could be developed based on the HS-/SxOy2- redox reactions.
