Do you remember that �gee whiz� feeling as you mixed the contents of test tube A with those of test tube B from your  chemistry set?  You were in awe and so pleased that someone had put those pieces together for you to discover the wonders of �modern science�. Those early feeling led to the study of chemistry where you decided what should be �mixed� and a heightened delight that  you had discovered something that no one in the world previously had. Maybe you solved a problem that had vexed others until then. So how and why did you decide to move away from the lab and delve into new areas. How did those opportunities present themselves and what did you do to prepare yourself to take full advantage of them? My talk will describe my career path that took me from chemistry to space and after a few more hops back to chemistry.
