Research and education in macromolecular science and engineering are supported by several divisions and directorates within the National Science Foundation, including the Divisions of Materials Research and Chemistry in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Directorate and the Divisons of Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental and Transport Systems and  Manufacturing Innovation in the Directorate of Engineering.  The scope of research ranges from fundamental studies of macromolecular synthesis and physics to the science of processing methods and environmentally benign manufacturing.  The breadth of funding modes is commensurate with the scope of the topics and, therefore, ranges from individual investigator grants to center awards.  This talk will primarily focus on research funded by the Division of Materials Research, including research funded within centers.  A discussion of new funding opportunities such as those associated with the Materials Genome Initiative and Sustainable Energy Pathways will be included in this presentation.
