Several mononuclear nickel complexes supported by 2-methoxy-1,3-bis(2'-(diisopropylphosphino)phenyl)benzene (1 ) have been synthesized. Reaction between the diphosphine 1  and a nickel(0) precursor leads to the formation of a nickel(0) diphosphine species. Cleavage of the aryl-oxygen bond is observed from this complex. Reaction of 1  with nickel(II) precursors results in the cleavage of the methyl-oxygen bond. Mechanistic studies of these transformations will be discussed.
