The addition of small amounts of Mn on Fe catalysts increases activity and stability of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Highly active iron based catalyst was designed and the effect of Mn addition to iron based catalysts was investigated on catalytic activity, selectivity and stability. Reduction degree increased with increasing manganese content but decreased with excess manganese. The CO conversion using 5Fe1Mn/100Al2O3 catalyst gave best result and stability increased with increasing manganese content. Similarly, FeMn/Al2O3 catalysts with pre-synthesized FeMnOx nanoparticles decrease iron-aluminate formation, offer higher CO conversion than the catalysts prepared by conventional method.
