The  Morinda citrifolia, also known as Noni, is a fruit that is commonly used as a dietary supplement because of its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective properties. Many dietary supplements can cause inhibition or induction in the Cytochrome P450 system. The effects of the Morinda citrifolia in the CYP4503A4 and CYP4502C9 of Chinese Hamster Ovarian Cells (CHO cells) was studied. CHO cells were cultivated and treated with the Noni's extract by a period of 48 hours. The extract was prepared by grinding three Noni fruits. The fruit's skin was preserved for HPLC analysis. Using an appropriate luminescent compound the luminescence of each sample was determined. Cytochrome P450 activity was determined. Enzyme activity was affected. Results were corroborated performing an HPLC run of each sample.
