Number of recent studies had shown that the properties of the road bitumen can be improved by using a series of modifiers, produced from chemical wastes of manufacture. One of these modifiers is atactic polypropylene (APP), a byproduct of the manufacture of commercially available isotactic polypropylene.  In current work we test physical and mechanical properties of bitumen mixture with moderate oxidized APP (OAPP - m) modified by radiation-chemical grafting of hydrophilic monomers, such as vinyl butyl ether (OAPP-m-g-VBE) and vinyl ether ethylene glycol (OAPP-m-g-VEEG).  As a result, modified samples of APP meet the requirements of modified bitumen and can produce bitumen-polymer compositions with controlled physical and mechanical properties. Samples are mixable with bitumen; don't breakdown during the asphalt-concrete mixture preparation. According to results bitumen can be improved by its modification with OAPP-m-g-VBE and OAPP-m-g-VEEG polymers.
