Metallic nanoparticles (MNPs) under 10nm present unique properties between the bulk and the molecular species .  However, there is a lack of sufficiently route to control their size. We report a new and versatile synthesis of size-controlled bimetallic NPs using various organometallic precursors in ionic liquidsInterestingly enough, upon mixing Ru and Cu precursors, smaller bimetallic NPs [ 1;9 to 2.8nm] are formed as compared to single metals[Cu : 5nm; Ru : 4nm] with enhanced size control in a large range of molar fraction Cu [(?Cu)= 0.005 to 0.91].Surface and microscopy techniques (HRTEM, EDX, XPS , XAES and EELS) confirm that NPs have metallic Cu on  the surface and  crystallin  hexagonal close packed metallic Ru core. This remarkable size control has been unambiguously attributed to the difference decomposition rate of the organometallic precursors. and generalized to other organometallic metallic couples, leading to size controlled bimetallic Ru-Ni, Ru-Pt and Ni-Cu nanoparticles
