In this work we will report on the synthesis, characterization and detailed solution and kinetic studies of dinuclear mixed-valence LFeIIIMII complexes (MII = Zn, Cu and LH2 = 2-bis[{(2-pyridyl-methyl)-aminomethyl}-6-{(2-hydroxy-benzyl)-(2-pyridyl-methyl)}-aminomethyl]-4-methylphenol) which are able to cleave diester bonds.  Furthermore, we will report a synthetic route for the attainment of an appropriate modification of the ligand L (L1 now containing a carbonyl group attached to the terminal phenol) to develop new synthetic protocols to immobilize the catalytic center on solid supports and to anchore DNA intercalators like pyrene derivatives.The structures of the [L1FeIIIZnII] and [L1FeIIICuII]  complexes, the synthesis and characterization of the silica and pyrene-bound-FeIIIMII complexes and their homogeneous and heterogeneous hydrolase activities with the DNA-model diester substrate 2,4-BDNPP and DNA itself are also presented. Finally, we will also discuss the cytotoxic activity on K562 chronic myelogenous leukemia cells and the cathecolase-like activity (catalytic promiscuity) of these biomimetics in the oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol.Support : CNPq, UFSC and INCT-Cat�lise
