In present study, we show that the dye-cosensitized graphene with dispersed Pt catalyst by two xanthene dyes Eosin Y (EY) and Rose Bengal (RB) exhibiting much higher photocatalytic activity and stability than correspondingly individual dye-sensitized systems for H2 evolution from water reduction. Under visible light irradiation (l=420 nm), a highest apparent quantum yield (AQY) up to 9.4% for hydrogen evolution is obtained on EY and RB (EY/RB) cosensitized system, which exceeds that of EY (4.3%) and RB (6.0%) sensitized systems by a factor of 2.2 and 1.6 under same conditions, respectively. The graphene has been identified as an efficient electron transport carrier between photoexcited sensitizers and decorated Pt catalyst due to its excellent electron-accepting and electron-transporting ability, which can efficiently shuttles the electrons from excited dyes to Pt catalyst, thus restraining the recombination process between oxidized dye species (dye+�) and electrons, and promoting the photocatalytic reaction efficiency for hydrogen evolution.
