The ability to arrest the growth of two pancreatic cancer cell lines, AsPC-1 and PANC-1, was studied for metal-containing polymers derived from the Lewis bases glycyrrhetinic acid, 6-aminopenicillic acid, histamine, and phentolamine.  Only polymers containing the organotin moiety exhibit decent ability to arrest cell growth.   Organotin polymers from all of the groups show some inhibition of both pancreatic cancer cell lines. In general, they exhibit a better ability to arrest the growth of the PANC-1 cancer cell line.  The glycyrrhetinic acid polymers show  moderate CI50 values with all but one less than one. With the exception of the dimethyltin and dioctyltin polymers, the polymers from 6-aminopinicillinic acid generally show decent inhibition of both cell lines with the diethyltin and dibutyltin showing the lowest GI50 values.  The dibutyltin product also shows the greatest CI50 values with a CL50 value of 190 for the AsPC-1 cell line and 4,600 for the PANC-1 cell line.  The diethyltin and dibutyltin products from phentolamine showed good inhibition of both cell lines with the diethyltin product having a GI50 value of 0.049 nanograms/mL.  Both polymers also showed good to outstanding CI50 values.  For the dibutyltin product the CI50 value for the AsPC-1 was >43 and for PANC-1 it was >2,100.  For the diethyltin polymer the CI50 values were both outstanding, >9,700 for AsPC-1 and >650,000 for PAN-1.   CI50 values for the histamine polymers are generally less than one with the exception of the dioctyltin product where CI50 values for both of the cancer cell lines are greater than ten and for the 3T3/PANC-1 the value is 1,300.
