Electrospinning is a useful method to prepare continuous polymer fibers which with diameters around sub-micron. Zinc oxide (ZnO) modified in nano range possesses good dispersion and conductivity. Special properties of ZnO make it as a possible material to be used in electrospinning process. In this work, poly(L-lactide) (PLA)/ZnO blends were made by electrospinning in order to combine the advantages of PLA and ZnO into the vascular scaffolds, the morphology of fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), the quantity of ZnO and mechanical property of scaffolds were measured by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and electronic universal testing machine, respectively. When the quality of ZnO contained in spinning solution increased from 0.1g to 0.5g, the curves of stress-strain indicated that the tensile strength of scaffolds decreased from 119.45 to 94.08 MPa. The results presented that toughness of PLA/ZnO scaffolds was enhanced and ZnO enhanced the mechanical support of vascular scaffolds.
