The objective of this research was to expand on previous investigations and study the axial electron transfer and to observe the electron transfer dependence on the distance between the fullerene and porphyrin molecules of aluminum (III) porphyrin-fullerene. The distance between the fullerene and the porphyrin was increased using three phenyl rings and synthesized through a series of multi-step reactions.  It was hypothesized that increasing the distance of the electron transfer would increase the lifespan of the charge separated states. Analyzing the synthesized molecule with time resolved electron paramagnetic resonance (TREPR) did not produce a signal although fluorescence displayed electron transfer from excited porphyrin to fullerene
