Metallosalen complexes have been exploited catalysts in organic chemistry as epitomized by Jacobsen's catalyst for olefin epoxidation.  We have synthesized various derivatives of thiosalen complexes for the purpose of exploring the non-innocent nature of the ligand and the effects on redox chemistry.  Through the use of various techniques we have begun probing the electronic structure of these complexes to obtain a better understanding of their reactivity.
