One of the unique properties of a persistent carbene is the ability to complex with a metal forming and organometallic complex. Recent investigations with main group carbene complexes have focused on the use of NHCs containing phenyl-base substituents. Here we report the findings of our investigations with adamantyl substituted N-heterocyclic carbene complexes with group 13 metals. The results will allow for an examination of the effects of the substituent groups on the electron structure/configuration of the resulting complex.
