Inverted organic solar cells possess the advantages of superior stability and compatibility of all-solution roll-to-roll fabrication over the conventional structure devices. However, with an augmented working area, defects tend to generate at the interface between the electron transport layer and the P3HT:PCBM bulk heterojunction (BHJ) layer. In this study, we present a low-temperature solution processed zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) infiltrated with sol-gel zinc-tin oxide (ZTO) of different Zn/Sn ratios as the electron transport layer (ETL) in large-area (0.16 cm2) inverted organic solar cells. The conductivity and rectifying behavior of ETL are depending on the Zn/Sn ratio in ZTO solution. The correlation between ETL conductivity and device performance is also investigated. The organic solar cell devices with ZTO modified ZnO NPs ETL exhibit an excellent power conversion efficiency (PCE) of greater than 3%.
