Bacterial cellulose (BC) is one of the best nano-sized fibrous materials produced by Gluconacetobacter xylinum (G. xylinum) in nature. Owning to the �nano effects�, BC has unique properties such as high mechanical strength in the wet state and enormous water retention values as well as substantial permeability for liquids and gases and the moldability during the cultivation process. Usually,G. xylinum moves randomly in all directions and bacterial cellulose film will form irregular network when it is cultured in static liquid medium. In this paper,a new method for controlling movement of microorganism and ordered controllable material assembly in nano scale has been established. In short, we can produce bacterial cellulose that have patterned structure and ordered micro-fiber structure on micro or nano-scale. The well-patterned materials have great potential utility in tissue engineering and photoelectric materials.
