The work presented herein investigates the structure and reactivity of R-phenylglycine methyl ester enaminoketone (ENK-PhGly). It is anticipated that a complex comprised of ENK-PhGly as a ligand bound to transition metals may demonstrate utility as a chiral catalyst. The nature of the M-Lx complex is investigated allowing for an increased insight into the characteristics of these complexes. The synthesis and complexation of ENK-PhGly will be presented along with proposed coordination geometries.
