Due to the outbreak of the infectious diseases caused by different pathogenic bacteria, new metal-organic pharmaceutical agents with anti-bacterial activities have been synthesized. One of the problems in the biological application of many of these complexes is related to their poor solubility in water and other common polar solvents. To overcome this drawback these metal complexes can be included into cyclodextrins. Cyclodextrins are a family of compounds made up of sugar molecules bound together in a ring. Cyclodextrins are able to form host-guest complexes with hydrophobic molecules in a way to increase the solubility of the host compound and can increase its biological efficiency. The interaction between the host and guest molecules occurs mostly by Van der Waals interactions. The �-cyclodextrin, a cyclodextrin which can comport suitably an aromatic ring inside of its hollow structure is used in this experiment to form a host-guest complex with the silver(I)-nimesulide metal complex.
