Ruthenium nanoparticles, stabilized either by a polymer (PolyVinylPyrrolidone: PVP) or by a ligand (bisdiphenylphosphinobutane: dppb), were synthesized by decomposition of [(Ru(COD)(COT)] in mild conditions.1 They were further reacted with an organometallic tin complexe to modify their surface.These nanoparticles were fully characterized by TEM, NMR, IR and M�ssbauer techniques. However, in comparison, with pure RuNPs, reactivity studies performed on these tin-modified RuNPs show differences as a function of the tin amount and the nature of the stabilizer. First, the quantity of hydrides present at the surface of these particles varies depending on the amount of tin. Second, any CO adsorption was observed for Sn-Ru/PVP, also in solid state NMR and IR, unlike for Sn-Ru/dppb. Third, the selective solution styrene hydrogenation, informs us about the tin location on the surface of the particles and explains the products obtained. 1 F. Novio, K. Philippot, B.
