For years I have attended �Nuts and Bolts of Chemical Education Research� workshops presented by Diane Bunce of The Catholic University of America.  She has often mentioned that my questions motivated her to develop yet another workshop for faculty and students interested in learning more about chemical education research.  This quest for personal professional development resulted in an invitation by Diane to spend a semester in her research group.  During my semester at Catholic University, I gained hands-on experience in chemical education research under her guidance. It has been six years now since my semester with Diane.  She is an amazing mentor who helped me take those first steps from inorganic bench chemistry to chemical education research.  Mentoring is critical in the process of teaching.  This presentation will focus on how Diane guided me through the nuts and bolts of chemical education research and how I am using what I learned with my students today.
