There has been recent progress towards the development of small molecule inhibitors as therapeutic drugs for botulinum neurotoxin intoxication.  A set of intermediates for use as base molecules for such investigation were synthesized.  Synthesis of five of nine possible regioisomers of an intermediate diphenyl ether compound were attempted, where four were met with success (see figure), having percent yields of 73%, 90%, 9%, & 31%.
