Mechanochemistry is one of the most promising approaches for solvent-free, room-temperature syntheses. The use of mechanochemistry to prepare C=N bonds (in the form of aldimines or Schiff bases) has now been re-investigated(1) to evaluate the importance of grinding or milling in improving reaction yields of systems containing reactants in different aggregation states.      This presentation compares mechanochemistry to thermal treatment and highlights distinctions between solvent-free and mechanochemical processes.(1) Rothenberg et al. J. Am. Chem.
