One of the most popular media for environmental use is activated carbon, especially for water and wastewater treatments. Powdered activated carbon (PAC) has relatively short equilibrium time in water treatment and it can be regenerated in a very short period of time due to relatively short pore depth. However, an economical separation method of PAC from water phase is necessary.  In current study, commercial available PAC was magnetized and tested using a superconducting magnet. The sorption capacity of PAC was compared between before and after the magnetization. The removal efficiency of PAC was highly dependent on the magnetic field and magnetizing method. Complete removal was achieved in a superconducting magnet level of magnetic field indicating a super conducting magnet system can contribute on physical treatment of water and wastewater.
