The closed shell d10 transition metal complexes like those of copper(I) are known to enhance phosphorescence and furnish metal based or ligand based phosphorescence.1 The phenanthroline N,N-chelates of copper with two monodentate phosphines or one bidentate phosphine have shown excellent performances as the triplet emitters in the phosphorescent light emitting devices.2 Phosphorescent organic light emitting devices using mono- and bi-nuclear Cu(I) complexes containing ligands other than phenanthroline and phosphines are very rare. We will report an interesting binuclear copper complex chelated with all bridging nitrogen donor ligands consisting of pyrazole and isoquinoline. We will discuss the characterization, crystal structure, quantum chemical calculations, photophysical, spectroelectrochemical and electroluminescence properties of the complex.M. A. Omary, R. M.
