In the conjugate addition reaction of organocuprates with a,�-unsaturated enones, p-complexes have been observed and characterized at low temperatures.  Using the rapid injection nuclear magnetic resonance technique the first p-complexes with dimethylcuprate incorporating nitrogen have now been observed.  Acyl cyanides, a-aza chalcones, and �-aza chalcones have been observed to form p-complexes with dimethylcuprate.  For example, injection of pyruvonitrile, 1  , into (CH3)2CuLi�LiI in THF-d8 at -100�C yields p-complex 2  .
