Organotin polyesters were formed from the interfacial polymerization of the organotin dihalides with 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid.  The products are formed in good to high yield (70-98 %) and are moderate to high polymers with chain lengths of 410 to 3,200.  Both yield and chain length generally decreases as the bulkiness of the organotin alkyl group increases. MALDI MS, IR, and NMR results are consistent with the proposed structure.  A Sn-O stretching band is formed.  Infrared spectra are consistent with a majority of the polymers having a non-bridged structure about the tin.
