In this work, multilayered polysulfone (PSF)/poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) films were studied to investigate their high temperature dielectric performance. From the electric displacement � electric field (D-E) loop results, the hysteresis loss from pure PVDF was suppressed by effective inhibition of PVDF dipole switching in response to alternating electric field. However, the hysteresis loop area would substantially increase at high fields and at high temperatures due to the enhancement of both dc conduction and ion migration. Additionally, when the PVDF content is 90 vol.%, the shape of D-E loops changed from ellipsoidal to S-shape with increasing the poling field. This was attributed to the temperature-enhanced dipole flipping in the PVDF layer. In the future, research needs to be carried out to reduce both dc conduction and ion mobility at high temperatures for PSF/PVDF multilayer films.
