Quantum dots (QDs) are considered to be one of the most popular electrochemiluminescence (ECL) species due to their unique optical and electrochemical properties. However, the inherent toxicity in most of the QDs used in ECL studies would limit their bio-applications. Thus it is necessary to develop novel low-toxic or nontoxic ECL species. Recently, we have synthesized low-toxic CdSeTe@ZnS-SiO2 QDs with ZnS-like clusters filled into SiO2 shell via a microwave-assisted approach. The as-prepared QDs revealed fascinating ECL behavior, indicating their promising ECL applications. We explored the ECL properties of non-toxic bovine serum albumin stabilized Au nanoclusters and investigated their ECL mechanism in detail. We also synthesized two-color graphene QDs via microwave for their ECL application. Moreover, we have proposed a novel strategy for the preparation of graphene-QDs composites, and an advanced ECL immunosensor was further constructed for the sensitive detection of Human IgG.
